Our Work

Research, dialogue, policy engagement and leadership development. We connect evidence, experience and African perspectives to support informed decisions on climate policy and diplomacy. Our work spans four functions, bringing analysis into conversation with the people and institutions shaping policy.

01

Generate → Research & Analysis

We examine policy questions, interpret evidence, and explore what developments in climate governance mean for Africa. Our analysis connects international processes with regional and national priorities, helping readers understand the choices, trade-offs and implications for implementation. Through our Policy Insights and Policy Dialogue Briefs, we aim to make complex issues accessible while preserving their political and technical substance.

02

Convene → Strategic Dialogue

We bring emerging leaders, negotiators, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners into informed exchange on shared policy priorities. Our dialogues create space to examine different perspectives, test ideas and identify questions that need further attention. The African Youth Dialogue Series is a signature platform for this work, connecting emerging African voices with policy experience and expertise. Dialogue briefs help carry the substance of these exchanges into wider discussion.

We contribute analysis and perspectives to policy discussions and diplomatic processes. Our focus is on connecting technical issues with political priorities, understanding how positions develop and identifying opportunities for informed engagement. This work draws on research and dialogue to help clarify policy choices and bring relevant African experiences into the discussion.

We support emerging leaders in strengthening their knowledge, analytical skills and judgment. Our approach connects learning with opportunities to contribute to research, dialogue and policy engagement. Through mentorship, exchange and participation in our work, we seek to help emerging thinkers and practitioners understand policy processes, engage with evidence and develop their own contributions.

Our thematic focus

Climate policy and diplomacy are currently at the center of our work. We organize our analysis and engagement around five connected themes.

Climate Governance & Diplomacy

How climate decisions are made, how institutions and negotiating processes operate, and how African priorities are developed and advanced across national, regional and international settings.

Adaptation & Resilience

How adaptation commitments translate into planning, finance and implementation, and how policy can respond to climate risks and resilience priorities across African contexts.

Loss & Damage

How policy and institutions respond to climate-related loss and damage, including questions of access, support and implementation for affected countries and communities.

Climate Finance

How climate action is financed, who can access support, and whether financial arrangements respond to the scale and nature of countries’ needs.

Just Transitions

How transitions can advance climate goals alongside energy access, livelihoods and development, and how their benefits, costs and opportunities are distributed.

Connecting our work

Our themes intersect. Adaptation raises questions of finance and governance; transitions involve choices about development and international cooperation. We connect related analysis and dialogue across these areas, with youth and intergenerational perspectives informing the portfolio.
